Effect of the Process of the Brick Of Bricks Origin Of Lampung on The Characteristic of Brick

Abstract

Red brick is one of the materials that are used as building construction and its presence is necessary because as a buffer on the walls of buildings. Red bricks made ​​of soil, the type of  soil affect the quality of the brick, the color and the brick power. In the process of making bricks, printing is done by the system or manually pressing machine. Burning media use firewood and rice husks. In this study the red bricks taken from three regions in Lampung : Bandar Lampung, Lampung Selatan Pringsewu and that each area is taken three villages made ​​of red bricks and has done characteristics. Under the terms -03-4164-1996 Quality Standard ISO Quality Standards Red Brick then that meet the requirements of water absorption in the red brick smallest is in the area of South Lampung 2 amounted to 14.07 % and Bandar Lampung 3 amounted to 16.54% , while the highest compressive strength bricks from the area of South Lampung 2 at 26.28 kg / cm2 and Bandar Lampung 3 at 25.40 kg / cm2. Heavy highest type of brick from the area of Bandar Lampung 3 of 2.20 g / cm3 and South Lampung 2 of 2.19 g / cm3 . Based on the research results the characteristic red brick is influenced by soil type and media burning because it will affect the quality of the compressive strength and density and water absorption of bricks.
