Abstract

Pregnancy is a period during which a woman's body undergoes fundamental changes to support the development and growth of the foetus in the womb. The objective of this study was to analyse the relationship between the level of physical activity of pregnant women and various factors that influence it, such as age, occupation, education level, trimester of pregnancy, and gravida. The present study adopted a cross-sectional design, with a sample of 100 pregnant women selected through a purposive sampling method. Data were collected using a respondent characteristic questionnaire and the Pregnancy Physical Activity Questionnaire (PPAQ), which were then analysed using the Chi-Square and Spearman Correlation tests. The analysis yielded insights into the physical activity patterns of pregnant women. It was observed that those who were employed, aged between 26 and 35 years, and in the second trimester of pregnancy exhibited a higher propensity for physical activity when compared to other groups. The results indicated that the majority of pregnant women exhibited high levels of physical activity (63%). The study revealed a significant relationship between physical activity levels and factors such as occupation, age, and trimester of pregnancy. However, the gravida factor did not demonstrate a significant relationship. There is a significant relationship between the level of physical activity of pregnant women and various factors that influence it, such as age, education, employment status, and trimester of pregnancy
