Abstract

Document scanning using smartphones is becoming increasingly common due to its convenience. However, the quality of the scans is often poor due to uneven lighting and distracting shadows. To address this issue, a device called the Pai Scanner was developed, an open case with internal lighting from white LED lights, designed to improve the quality of document scans. This device allows for even lighting, reduces shadows, and makes it easy to capture images of various document sizes using a smartphone camera. The prototype was tested in several offices and showed significant improvements in scan results, even when using a standard smartphone camera. The Pai Scanner is considered effective and economical as an alternative scanning solution, especially in work environments that require fast and efficient distribution of digital documents.
