Study the Potential of Biofuels Production in Tulang Bawang, Lampung
Abstract
Diminishing of fuel reserves requiresof efforts in the form of renewable energy. The objectives of this study were to identify the potential of biomass and inventory factors which is supporting or inhibiting the development of biofuels production as renewable energy in Tulang Bawang, Lampung. This descriptive research used surveys method. Data collected by the Rapid Rural Appraisal through Focus Group Discussion. The results has shown that the potential of biofuels development in Tulang Bawang were byproduct of corn with estimates as many as 12,830 kiloliters of bioethanol, byproduct of sugar cane bagasse in the form of equivalent potential bioethanol 5,800 kiloliters of bioethanol, byproduct of the processing of tapioca from cassava with potential 8 million m3 of methane gas, livestock waste which can be converted into biogas as much as 14,674 m3/day and production of microalgae on fisheries with the potential of bioethanol as much as 20,000 liters/ha. Development of biofuels production in Tulang Bawang needs to consider the availability of local raw materials as a major factor, processing technology, human resources, markets, and government policy.
